What is Open Access?
Open Access allows primary care doctors to book their patients, who have appropriate indications, for a gastroscopy, colonoscopy or both directly with Dr Keegan without the need for an initial consultation.
It can give your patients access to timelier diagnostic procedures and eases the financial pressure that comes with the cost of an initial consultation.
Procedural results and Dr Keegan’s recommendations are then provided to the patient upon discharge and to the referring GP, keeping you well informed to fast-track your patients’ healthcare outcomes.
After GP assessment of patient suitability for the open access pathway, a referral can be sent to Dr Keegan.

Reduced waiting time for a diagnosis
Streamlining the GP-to-Specialist pathway
A candidate’s suitability is assessed against a defined criteria, looking to exclude any high-risk medical conditions, which may require specialist assessment prior to booking the procedure to ensure patient safety.
Sometimes, based on the information provided in the referral and the patient’s known medical conditions, we may feel a face-to-face consultation is warranted prior to proceeding with the procedure booking. If we feel a prior consultation is necessary to ensure safety, we will advise you of this.
